A 12 Day Adventure Exploring the Mayan Ruins, Pristine Jungle and Beautiful Beaches of Guatemala and Belize - From £2,245 per Person Sharing, Excluding International Flights

Day 1
Arrive in Guatemala City, where you will be met by your guide and then transferred to your hotel in Antigua, approximately 45 minutes away from Guatemala City. Antigua, Guatemala
Overnight: El Convento (Junior Suite) – This boutique hotel is well located in the small city of Antigua.  The rooms and suites are decorated in a contemporary style, with modern furnishings.

Day 2
Today you will be given a walking tour of the city. Antigua was the capital city founded by the Spanish; large parts of the city have been destroyed or badly damaged by successive earthquakes, which led to the founding of Guatemala City in 1776. The old capital still has much colonial architecture and highlights still standing include the Merced and San Francisco Monasteries...

Day 3
You will be met and taken on to your next destination, Lake Atitlan. A trip to Chichicastenango Market en-route, known as one of the most famous markets in all of Central America, the colourful clothing of the locals selling their products is quite remarkable. People from all over the Guatemalan Highlands flock here on Sundays and Thursdays to sell or buy local produce including everything from Fruit and Vegetables to textiles and handicrafts.

After your tour, you will continue to your hotel, located at Lake Atitlan, regarded by many as the most beautiful lake in the world.
Overnight: Casa Palopo – Located on the shores of Lake Atitlan, this small boutique hotel features just 7 rooms and has some stunning views of the Volcanoes on the opposite side of the Lake.  The rooms and is located close to the village of Santa Catarina de Palopo (B/L)

Day 4
Enjoy a full day exploring Lake Atitlan. There are a number of villages on the shores of the lake and you will be able to stop at some of these and meet the local people including many artists who have their studios on the banks of the Lake. Also included is a Boat crossing of Lake Atitlan, offering you a different perspective of the lake and its surroundings.
Overnight: Casa Palopo (B/L)

Day 5
This morning you return to Guatemala City where you will have an overnight before the next stage of your adventure. Guatemala City is far more busy and modern than Antigua, but as you have aLake Attlan, Guatemalan early flight tomorrow, it serves its purpose as a convenient place to stop over. 
Overnight: Camino Real – This hotel is located in Guatemala City, conveniently for the Airport.  The well appointed rooms are very comfortable and the hotel features a wide range of services for all its guests (B)

Day 6
Take an early morning flight to Flores, where you will be met by your local guide and taken to Tikal, where you will be given a full-day exploring this renowned region. Tikal is the most famous Mayan site in the area. The pyramids are in a large area of jungle, close to the shores of Lake however in order to maximise your viewing of the site, you will need to walk some distance to see some of the farther afield pyramids.  The main complex is quite compact and your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the site and its history.  After the tour, you will be taken to your hotel where you can relax and reminisce over the days adventures...
Overnight: Villa Maya – Located less than an hour from Tikal, this hotel features 55 cabins, built and decorated using local materials. Each room has its own private balcony and the hotel has good facilities, including a pool and a restaurant which serves local and international cuisine (B)

Day 7
After breakfast, you transfer to the border with Belize, approximately 2-hours away. Completing border formalities you will cross into Belize, before continuing on to Cayo District, a further hour away. A chance to relax and settle into your hotel.
Overnight: Chaa Creek Lodge (Cottage Room) – One of the most highly regarded eco resorts in Belize, Chaa Creek is ideally located for visitors to enjoy the nearby rainforest, with its interesting wildlife as well as Mayan remains, hidden in the Jungle (B)

Day 8
Today is yours to spend at your own leisure. Chaa Creek is set in its own 365-acre Rainforest reserve which is great fun to explore! Other optional excursions include Guided tours of the Natural history Centre and Butterfly Farm, canoeing, bird watching, walking teh Rainforest Medecine Trail or a visit to the Ruta Maya Trail system.

Day 9
This morning you transfer 3 hours to Belize City Airport, where you will take a light aircraft transfer to the nearby Ambergris Caye. TheAmbergris Caye, Belize flight is quite short and upon arrival in Ambergris Caye, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  The rest of the day is yours to spend at your own leisure.
Overnight: Victoria House (Plantation Room) – This small luxury hotel, features just 42 rooms in various categories, some of which are located on the beach.  The hotel boasts good facilities, which will help to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible (B)

Days 10, 11
Two days to rest and relax at your leisure. The pristine beaches of Ambergris Caye are some of the most unspoilt in the Caribbean. There’s also a Mayan ruin on the Island, while the clear blue sea, is great for snorkelling and diving.

Day 12
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip, for your return flight to Belize City, in time to meet your onward international flight (B)
